Sylvie Bouissou, a Doctor of Musicology
Research director at the CNRS, Sylvie Bouissou is agrégée by the University, a Doctor of Musicology at Paris-IV Sorbonne, is habilitated at Paris-I Sorbonne, and a former resident of the Académie de France in Rome. In 1996, she launched the monumental publication project Rameau Opera omnia (40 volumes to date), founded and directed the Institut de recherche sur le patrimoine musical en France (IRPMF), now known as the IREMUS, and created – in partnership with the Fondation Francis et Mica Salabert, the Ministère de la Culture and music publishers – Musica Gallica, a nationwide project to finance the editing and publication of French musical heritage.
She is the author of several critical editions (most recently, Rameau’s Les Indes Galantes) and various books on Baroque music in France: Histoire de la notation ; Crimes, cataclysmes et maléfices dans l’opéra baroque en France ; Jean-Philippe Rameau, musicien des Lumières ; Rameau entre art et science. She is also a co-author of the Catalogue thématique Rameau (with Pascal Denécheau and Denis Herlin, 3 volumes and co-directed (with Pascal Denécheau and France Marchal-Ninosque), the Dictionnaire de l’Opéra de Paris sous l’Ancien Régime in 4 volumes.
